Synopsis
1943, in the ruins of Blitzed London…
Stella Thorne and Dan Rosinski fall in love by accident. Theirs is a reluctant, unstoppable affair in which all the odds are stacked against them: she is newly married, and he is an American bomber pilot whose chance of survival is just one in five.
…He promised to love her forever.
60 years later, Dan makes one final attempt to find the girl he has never forgotten, and sends a letter to the house where they shared a brief yet perfect happiness. But Stella has gone, and the letter is opened by Jess, a young girl hiding from problems of her own. And as Jess reads Dan’s words, she is captivated by the story of a love affair that burned so bright and dimmed too soon. Can she help Dan find Stella before it is too late?
Now forever is finally running out.
Here's what Good Housekeeping readers had to say about it
'I read this book in less than a week. It caught my attention right from the start and I really enjoyed it. It is well written with a great storyline, believable characters, and with humour and pathos in abundance. The first novel from Iona Grey, she has a very bright literary future ahead of her. Can't wait for her next book!'
'After reading the first few pages, I knew this was going to be a good book and I was right. Really enjoyed it. Very easy reading. Didn't want the story to end.'
'I was completely absorbed by this book, from reading the cover through to the end of the Epilogue whereupon I sobbed! I could not put it down. It was tender, hear-rending and utterly compelling.'
'I couldn't put the book down! I wanted to share my reading experience with others. The story gripped me from the beginning, the way it interlinked the past with the present was very cleverly done. I kept wondering how the story could be sustained. The descriptive parts were evocative, incredibly well written. I believed I was there. Beautiful story that captured the past so well. I can't write enough wonderful things about it. I could read it again and again. Thank you.'
'I enjoyed this book very much I found it quite believable and moving. I have told lots of my friends about it and they are queuing up to read it. I loved it - thank you for passing it on to me.'
