If, like us, you were a huge fan of the BBC's beyond brilliant series The Split, then we've got the perfect new divorce drama to tell you about. If we didn't already love her enough, The Savant's Jessica Chastain is leading the cast of Apple+'s The Off Weeks, which will enter us into the rather messy - and drama-filled - aftermath of a divorce.
The new series will introduce us to recently divorced professor (played by Ben Stiller), who's struggling to hold everything together on the days that he has custody of his kids. Meanwhile, during his “off” weeks, he’s falling in love with a mysterious woman (Jessica Chastain) who has something of a chaotic influence on his life.
While we patiently wait for The Off Weeks to arrive on our screens, here’s everything you need to know about the new series, including the cast, plot and how to watch it.
What to read next
What is The Off Weeks about?
The eight-part series follows writing professor Gus Adler (Ben Stiller), who's going through a bit of a messy divorce - and, in the process, his life has spiralled into something akin to chaos. During his "on" weeks, he has custody of his kids and has to present himself as a composed father, but during his "off" weeks he’s falling in love with Stella West (Jessica Chastain), “a mysterious woman whose arrival puts Gus’ on-week duties and off-weeks ambitions on a fatal collision course,” as Apple’s synopsis reveals.
There’s a fantastic creative team attached to the drama, as both Jessica and Ben are executive producing the series - and it’s being directed by Michael Showalter (The Idea of You, The Dropout) and showrun by Alissa Nutting (Made for Love). Ben Stiller has made huge strides with Apple TV+, having executive produced the smash hit Severance - and Jessica Chastain is starring in tense thriller The Savant, which is based on a true story and is released this week.
Who’s in the cast of The Off Weeks?
So far, the cast of The Off Weeks includes:
- Jessica Chastain as Gus Adler

We're expecting further cast details to be released soon, so watch this space for more news as we have it.
How can I watch The Off Weeks?
While Apple TV+ hasn't yet shared an official release date for The Off Weeks just yet, give it's only just been announced, we'd expect it to arrive on our screens at some point in 2026. As soon as we have a confirmed date, we'll share it here.
What other divorce dramas can I watch now?
As we mentioned, we adore The Split! The popular BBC drama revolves around Hannah Defoe (played brilliantly by Nicola Walker) who leaves her family’s law firm to join a rival - and the personal and professional soon intertwines. You can watch series 1 to 3, and the festive Barcelona episodes - now on BBC iPlayer. We’d also hugely recommend The Roses - a film that’s a tinderbox of resentment and competition between Ivy (Olivia Colman) and Theo (Benedict Cumberbatch), and it’s also a hilarious - and rather tense - reimagining of 1989 film The War of the Roses. It’s out in cinemas now.
