Is there anything more exciting than a really good cat and mouse series? We don't think so - and we've just heard about a very exciting new one coming to U&Alibi that we'd highly recommend watching. The Hunting Party is a crime thriller with a terrifying twist and, having aired on NBC in the US earlier this year, it's finally secured a UK broadcaster in the form of U&Alibi. What's the story? Well, the brilliantly original plot centres around an explosion that takes place at a prison, resulting in a group of highly volatile serial killers being set free. And this isn't any prison - it's a top secret one.

The series follows investigators Rebecca “Bex” Henderson, played by Manifest’s Melissa Roxburgh, and Oliver Odell (Nick Wechsler) who work together to try and contain the criminals-at-large. The problem is that the prison, hidden deep in the Wyoming underground, has been secretly holding - and experimenting on - some of the most prolific and deadly serial killers in the world. These tests have changed them, meaning they’re more unpredictable than ever. Sounds gripping, right?

What is The Hunting Party about?

As we mentioned, the drama revolves around a prison hidden deep within the Wyoming countryside called ‘The Pit’. It's a highly classified prison that covertly holds some of the US’s worst serial killers. When an explosion occurs and the most sadistic and violent members of society are suddenly set free, a team of investigators including Rebecca “Bex” Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh) assembles to track them down. Even worse? The top-secret prison isn’t even meant to exist.

Each episode identifies a new criminal who has escaped The Pit, with the investigators working to track them down. But the task is especially difficult, as a series of psychological and physical experiments on the inmates means they’re more unpredictable and menacing than ever. And the longer they’re out there, the more dangerous they’ll become.

To add to the task of dealing with a bunch of highly intelligent killers on the loose, there are internal politics for the investigators to contend with, too. Add in a potential love triangle and government conspiracies, and The Hunting Party has layer upon layer of twists to keep you hooked.

Is The Hunting Party any good?

Yes - it's original, it's twisty and it has all the makings of an addictive watch. When it aired in the US, viewers agreed, praising it for being “mind-gripping” and “captivating”. Audiences particularly enjoyed the stories of the individual serial killers and the way their unique flaws were highlighted and related to their crimes. The show has also been renewed for a second series by NBC, due in 2026 - which is always a good sign.
