We love a bit of Death in Paradise, so when we heard the news that Channel 5 is gifting us with a brand-new crime drama, we couldn’t help but notice that it sounds, well, just a little bit similar. Meet Death in Benidorm, the six-part detective drama that appears to have it all - sun, sea and a spectacularly good storyline - and may well take Death in Paradise’s crown.

You won’t be surprised to hear that the drama is set in, yes, Benidorm, and follows former detective Dennis Crown, who has left his busy life in the UK behind to run a bar in the sunshine. Or has he? When a string of tourists turn up dead, he’s drawn back into the world he thought he'd said goodbye to - only this time, he’s solving crimes in “paradise”.

While we await the arrival of Death in Benidorm on our screens, here's everything you need to know about the upcoming detective drama, including the plot and cast details.

If you haven't yet watched BBC One's Death in Paradise, do so immediately - 14 series in, it's as brilliantly escapist as ever. More recently, UKTV has gifted us with Bookish and we'd highly recommend tuning in. The drama introduces us to a 1940s bookshop owner, Gabriel Book (Sherlock's Mark Gatiss), who solves crimes - and let's just say it's no ordinary whodunnit period piece.

Will there be another series of Death in Paradise?

Yes, the BBC has confirmed that there will be a 15th series of Death in Paradise and it's scheduled to air on BBC One in early 2026.
