What is After The Hunt about?

In After The Hunt, we meet college professor Alma (Julia Roberts) whose life is upended as she suddenly ‘finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads’. When her best student Maggie (Ayo Edebiri) levels an accusation of misconduct against her friend and colleague Hank (Andrew Garfield), Alma is left torn in a moral dilemma. At the same time, ‘a dark secret from her own past threatens to come into the light’.

In a tense trailer, we see an intergenerational debate between professors and students and then Alma spies Hank walking Maggie home. Maggie tells Alma that Hank ‘crossed a line’. But what exactly happened, is her word against his. Clips show an increasingly erratic Hank, as well as Alma in deep conversations about truth, cheating and morality him, Maggie and other professors.

At one point, Maggie makes a reference to Alma’s ‘history’ and she reacts cagily. What secrets is she trying to keep hidden? What is clear, is that relationships in every direction are fraying dangerously.
