The story of warring crime families has historically proven to be fertile ground for TV and film, and MobLand, Guy Ritchie's star-fronted Paramount+ crime drama, has shown our appetite for it is very much still strong. The series, which stars Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren in what's surely their best ever drama, can only be described as TV brilliance, so we're just a little bit pleased to share that it's officially returning to our screens for a second series.

26 million people tuned in to see Tom Hardy as Harry Da Souza, a fixer for the lawless Harrigan family – and the second installment will now doubt prove just as popular. Excitingly, producer David Glasser has revealed that all our cast favourites including Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren will happily be making a return. “Same team, same everybody,” he promised at a red carpet event.

“Everybody’s coming back. One big family.” So, while we await the arrival of series 2, here’s everything you need to know about the next instalment, including the cast and plot details.

The series is a gripping gangster epic that pitches the Irish drugs-and-guns family empire, The Harrigans – fronted by matriarch Maeve Harrigan (Helen Mirren), her husband Conrad Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan) and Kevin Harrigan (Paddy Considine) as one of their sons – against the rival gangland family, The Stevensons. Geoff Bell plays Richie Stevenson, who's the head of the latter crime dynasty.

Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy) is the street-smart and formidable fixer employed by the Harrigans to navigate and mitigate the escalating conflict threatening their empire. As tensions between the families intensify, Harry is tasked with protecting the Harrigans' interests and preventing an all-out gang war. Drugs, blackmail, murder – there’s no bar too low in the fight for dominance, and viewers were landed with an excruciating cliffhanger at the end of series one.

While the main plot points are being kept under wraps for now, Tom Hardy has hinted that the action might go “international” in series 2. “There are international elements to organised crime, which are touched on in season one and the control of drugs and ammunition and weapons and people and all kinds of things that go through Europe and from Africa through to South America, Pakistan and the variable commodities that move around Europe," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

“There are families that are involved in each European country that are vying for power to have that status to be able to move these kind of commodities through and who polices that and how that fits into a world stage,” he added.

Paramount+ hasn't yet shared a release date for MobLand series 2, but we're expecting it to arrive on our screens at some point in 2026. It was a pretty fast turnaround for the production of the original series - the cast and crew started shooting in November 2024 and wrapped in March 2025, just days before the show’s launch on Paramount+ on 30th March.

As previously reported: “At least six of the episodes in the series were written during production, and filming wrapped only four days before the premiere.” While this down-to-the-wire working must have been stressful for those working on the show, the good news for viewers is that this hopefully means there won’t be a long wait between the two series.
