Ahead the Pierre's arrival on our screens, here's everything you need to know about the upcoming legal drama, including the plot, cast and when we're expecting it to be released.
What is Pierre about?
The six-part legal drama will introduce us to Pierre (David Harewood), a West London duty solicitor and a force of nature. He’s both charming and funny, and juggling the pressures of his job, a fragile personal life and just keeping his head above water financially.
His resilience is tested when he begins investigating the suspicious death of a young black client, Michael (Ezrae Maye). According to the official synopsis, “As Pierre challenges the police's portrayal of Michael as a criminal, he unravels a chilling web of institutional corruption… when you come at the system, the system comes at you…”
John Donnelly and Roy Williams, co-writers said “Led by the brilliant David Harewood, this talented ensemble represents the very best of British talent. Bringing warmth, wit, compassion and grit to the world of Pierre. We hope audiences will be as thrilled with our cast as we are.”
David Harewood has said he’s “delighted” to be taking on the role of Pierre. “He’s such a wonderfully well-painted character, beautifully crafted by Roy and John and I cannot wait to get into his shoes,” he says. “He is bright, flawed, and passionate about his work and I’m really hoping audiences find him as appealing as I do on the page.”
Co-writers John Donnelly and Roy Williams, have shared why they chose to put a duty solicitor at the centre of the series. “Duty solicitors are the unsung heroes of the legal profession. Overworked, underpaid,” they shared. “They can be called out anytime, never knowing who or what lies in store for them. They are full of stories, it's a thrill to tell them.”
