Demi Moore has been working on an unexpected side project, which she recently revealed on Instagram. When the Hollywood star isn't on film sets shooting blockbusters, it appears she's been doing her part for the animal kingdom - specifically, orphaned ducklings.
Demi revealed to her 6.3 million followers that she had recently 'rescued three orphaned baby mallard ducklings'. In a selection of photographs she shared on social media, Demi can be seen cradling the ducklings inside her coat by a pond, as well as introducing them to friends and family. In one clip included in the post, Demi marches along the grass as the three ducks follow in a line behind her.
Demi's dog Pilaf also appears to be enjoying the new animal company. Photographs show Pilaf cuddled up close to the ducklings, while Demi said her pup had been 'enjoying her new friends'.
Of course, Demi can't keep the ducklings forever, and she explained that she is planning to reintroduce them into the wild when they are ready to fly the nest. She also added that she is working with a professional while caring for them
'With the help and guidance of my local vet we are working to nurture them until they are old enough to be reintroduced to their natural habitat,' she wrote. Discussing the experience, Demi described her time with the ducklings as a having been a 'messy joy'.
Demi is known for being an animal lover, especially when it comes to her pup Pilaf, who has accompanied her to so many public events and red carpets that she's almost a celebrity herself. Pilaf is particularly recognisable for her sticking out tongue, and has been photographed during a number of appearances as Demi's date, including at last year's Cannes Film Festival.
