Catherine Zeta-Jones shared a relatable proud-parent moment this weekend, alongside husband Michael Douglas. The Hollywood couple were celebrating their daughter Carys’ graduation, with Catherine sharing a sweet family photo of the trio from the night before the celebration.
Taking to Instagram, Catherine said, ‘We’re both such proud parents right now’ on ‘the night before graduation’. She added, ‘it’s only just begun’, tagging her daughter’s own Instagram page.
In the photo, Carys stands between her mum and dad, who each kiss her on the cheek, but it was Carys’ lace-trimmed, full-length gown that particularly caught our eye. The flowing off-the-shoulder dress is remarkably similar to the style Catherine wore in her iconic role in The Mask Of Zorro. Wearing the dress in the photo, Carys is the image of her mum’s famous character, adding an extra sentimental touch to the eve of her milestone event.
The family trio’s pose is also a throwback to a standout moment of the Cannes red carpet in 2023, which saw Carys attend alongside her parents Catherine and Michael. The family arrived for the opening ceremony of the 76th festival at Palais des Festivals on 16 May, with Catherine and Carys posing either side of Michael to give him a kiss on the cheek.
At the event, Michael received the honorary Palm d'Or and brought his wife and daughter along to support the important occasion. This weekend, he and Catherine were there for Carys’ own big moment and recreated the same sweet family pose – this time with Carys at the centre.
Last week, Catherine shared a sneak preview of the upcoming second series of Wednesday on Netflix, in which she stars as Morticia Addams in the Addams Family spin-off. A video clip shared across her social media accounts revealed an especially exciting addition to the cast of the new series – Dame Joanna Lumley, who will play Morticia’s mother.
