The series centres around special agent Kyle Turner, as he investigates a brutal murder in the wilderness that has deep, unsettling connections - not only to the national park he works in, but his own past, too. Set in the grounds of California’s Yosemite National Park, it's a character-driven mystery-thriller and there's nothing predictable about it. "Everyone thinks of Yosemite as this beautiful place with all the vistas and all the scenery, but we were trying to touch on the dangers that are just beyond that," co-showrunner Mark L Smith has said.

What is Untamed about?

The six-part drama introduces us to Kyle Turner (Eric Bana), a special agent in an elite branch of the National Parks Service. His job is to enforce law in the vast yet beautiful wilderness of Yosemite. His colleague, Naya Vasquez (Lily Santiago), is new to the team and joins from Los Angeles, meaning a huge change of pace for her. However, when a brutal murder takes place on their patch, Naya’s big-city crime skills mean she’s an asset to Kyle, as they set out on their investigation.

"Because Vasquez is new to the park, we get to see the park through her eyes," co-showrunner Elle Smith says. "We get to understand what this job is and see the beauty of the park, but also the dangers." However, as they delve further into the depths of the crime, Kyle is sent on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past. The cast of Untamed includes:

• Eric Bana (Hulk, The Dry) as Kyle Turner, a special agent in an elite branch of the National Parks Service.
• Sam Neill (Apples Never Fall) as Paul Souter. He’s been the chief park ranger in Yosemite for half his life and he’s a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend to Kyle.
• Rosemarie DeWitt (La La Land) as Jill Bodwin: Kyle’s ex-wife. A former teacher and park counsellor, Jill remarried a few years after their divorce but they maintain a strong bond.
• Lily Santiago (La Brea, Mary Jane On Broadway) as Naya Vasquez, an ambitious young copper from Los Angeles and the newest addition to Yosemite’s ranger squad.
• Wilson Bethel (Daredevil, All Rise) as Shane Maguire, a former army ranger who now uses his skills as the park’s wildlife management officer.
