If, like us, you’ve been longing for a brilliant new TV series to see you through the week, we’ve got just the thing to plug the gap. The Wanted Man is the thrilling new Apple TV+ series with a betrayal like no other at the heart of it – and we have a feeling it’ll please crime drama fans everywhere.
Starring The Night Manager’s Hugh Laurie in the lead role, the series will introduce us to Felix Carmichael (Laurie), the head of a powerful British crime syndicate who's been seemingly untouchable for the past 20 years. Things take a turn however when he finds himself behind bars at the infamous Staplehurst prison - and it becomes apparent that he's been betrayed by someone on the inside.
If you enjoyed BBC One's This City is Ours (it's well worth a watch), we're expecting The Wanted Man to be somewhat similar - and hopefully, just as good. Ahead of its arrival on our screens, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming series, including the cast, plot and how you can watch it.
What is The Wanted Man about?
The eight-part drama charts the rise and fall of Felix Carmichael (Hugh Laurie), the elusive and powerful head of a notorious British crime syndicate known as "The Capital". Having been untouchable for two decades, Carmichael is finally apprehended, but while he’s held in the infamous Staplehurst prison, it becomes clear that he's been betrayed by a confidant and close friend.
According to the official synopsis, "As the traitor moves to dismantle the empire he has built, Carmichael must risk everything in a daring escape. Willing to stop at nothing to take his revenge, if he succeeds, he’ll be a wanted man once more." The question is: will he make it out?
The series is created, written and executive produced by George Kay, the man behind Apple TV+’s hit thriller Hijack, which starred Idris Elba. His other work includes the Netflix dramas Criminal and Lupin, and ITV’s The Long Shadow, so let’s just say the bar has been set pretty high.

- Hugh Laurie (The Night Manager)
