Good news for fans of Maxine Peake - the star is coming back to our screens in a brand-new breathtaking thriller. The Dispatcher is a billed as a “white-knuckle” missing child drama and Colin from Accounts' Patrick Brammall also stars in the intriguing new Apple TV+ show.
The drama is set in Australia and centres on a police dispatcher (played by Patrick Brammall) with a tragic past he can't let go of. Then, a phone call comes in which changes everything. The thriller will unfold across six action-packed episodes, and is directed and executive produced by Emmy Award-nominated filmmaker Christian Schwochow, who also directed episodes of The Crown.

What is The Dispatcher about?
The new series follows Australian police detective Ian Hunt (Patrick Brammall), whose life was torn apart when his young daughter Maggie disappeared without a trace 10 years earlier. Despite a decade having passed since the loss of his daughter, he refuses to accept that she could be gone forever.
Now, Ian works as a police dispatcher, taking in emergency calls and co-ordinating the response. Then, one day while he's at work, something happens which turns his world upside down. "When [Ian] receives a distress call from a young girl he is certain is Maggie, he will stop at nothing to find her and reunite his broken family, whatever the cost," reads Apple TV+'s official synopsis.
While Maxine Peake is confirmed as joining the cast, the exact details of her role are currently under wraps. The new series was inspired by the Ryan David Jahn thriller novel of the same name, which is described as a "bullet-strewn cross-country chase... about the lengths a man will go to for his daughter." Although the show will be set in Australia, the original book is set in the United States, tracking across the country from Texas to California.
The script has been adapted for screen by acclaimed writer and executive producer Kris Mrksa.
