If you’re tired of wasting your evenings searching for something decent to watch on TV, rest assured because we’ve got just the thing for you. Flowers Over the Inferno is the race-against-the-clock crime thriller coming to Channel 4 this week – and we’ve got a feeling you’ll want to binge the whole thing in one go.
The six-part adaptation of Ilaria Tuti’s popular novel is set in Italy’s remote Dolomite mountains, where a body has been found. So far, so average crime drama. Only Teresa Battaglia, the police commissioner brought in to handle the case, soon finds herself with more dead bodies on her hands, as well as the first symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease to deal with.
With just days to wait until the show’s arrival on our screens, here’s everything you need to know about the new series, including the plot, cast and how you can tune in.
What is Flowers Over the Inferno about?
An adaptation of Ilaria Tuti’s novel of the same name, the series takes us to Italy’s remote Dolomite mountains, where the body of Mr. Valent, the designer behind the local ski resort, has been found in the snow. He’s been murdered, his eyes have been gouged out and his clothes are missing. It's a chilling scene, to say the least.
Elena Sofia Ricci plays police commissioner Teresa Battaglia who, along with her deputy Giacomo Parisi and new recruit Massimo Marini, is called in to track own the killer - and her job is far from simple. At first, it seems Mrs. Valent is the prime suspect, but soon, more bodies turn up, and it appears there are direct links to the ski resort and hidden evils within the small community.
The twists keep on coming; Teresa’s case is made all the more challenging by the fact that she’s out of shape, diabetic and she suspects she’s experiencing the first symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. The question is: will she solve the case before it’s too late? We'll be tuning in to find out.
