Kieran Culkin made a touching gesture on Sunday (2 March) as he used part of his Oscars speech to ask his wife Jazz for a fourth child.

Taking to the stage to accept the Best Supporting Actor award at the 97th Academy Awards, Kieran made a moving tribute to his wife Jazz, saying she is "the love of my life" and explained a previous conversation they had had.

"A year ago, I said that I wanted a third kid, because she said if I won the [Emmy] award, she would give me the kid. Turns out she said that because she didn't think I was going to win," he said.

In fact, Kieran did win the Emmy on that occasion, and he recounted walking through the carpark after the ceremony and Jazz saying they should have a third child.

"I turned to her and said, 'Really, I want four.' And she turned to me - I swear to god this happened - and said, 'I will give you four when you win an Oscar,'" Kieran told the audience, who were laughing. "Then I just have to say to you, Jazz, love of my life, ye of little faith. No pressure."

Addressing his wife directly he said, "Let's get cracking on those kids. What do you say? I love you. I love. I love you."

Kieran Culkin won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his part in A Real Pain, which was the first win of the night.

The film was also nominated in the category for Best Original Screenplay. This award went to the night's runaway success, Anora, an independent film which swept the board with five award wins out of six nominations.
