If you’re tired of waiting for Line of Duty to return (aren’t we all?), do not fear. Martin Compston has landed an exciting new role in the second series of ITV’s "unforgettable" Sunday-night thriller, Red Eye - so quite frankly, AC-12 will have to wait.
If you missed it the first time round, Red Eye’s first series saw Richard Armitage play Dr. Matthew Nolan who, having arrived in London from Beijing, was promptly arrested for a crime he denied. It was twisty, turn-y and totally unforgettable - and with series 2 bringing us another major conspiracy – it’s set to amp up our Sunday nights once again.

What is Red Eye about?
The first series of ITV's Red Eye, which launched last year, drew in audiences in excess of 8 million viewers - and we're not exactly surprised given how brilliantly addictive it was. The story revolved around Dr Matthew Nolan (Richard Armitage) who was arrested on suspicion of murder upon landing back at Heathrow airport from a business trip. But did he do it - or was he framed?
London police officer DC Hana Li (Jing Lusi) was given the not-so-straightforward task of escorting him back to Beijing, but on board flight 357, she found herself embroiled in an escalating conspiracy and an increasing number of murders. Cue a frantic search for who was behind it all.
What will happen in Red Eye series 2?
According to ITV, Red Eye series 2 will comprise of six episodes and see Jing Lusi reprising her role as DS Hana Li, alongside new guest star, Martin Compston. Together, they must set aside past differences to solve a new high-stakes conspiracy.
With filming well underway, Jing Lusi has shared her excitement at returning to the series. "I'm incredibly excited to return to the world of Red Eye, and thrilled to be sharing this rollercoaster with the brilliant Martin Compston," she says.
We also know we’ll see the return of some series 1 favourites, including Lesley Sharp as Head of MI5 Madeline Delaney and Jemma Moore as journalist Jess Li. And it’s pretty safe to say, it's going to be another action-packed series!
