If you’re looking for a spine-tingling TV series that you’ll be happily obsessed with, Martin Compston’s new drama is it. The Line of Duty actor is starring in Amazon Prime Video’s latest psychological thriller, Fear, and it’s a little bit like ITV’s Playing Nice (the one starring James Norton) – only better.

The plot follows happy couple Martyn (Martin Compston) and Rebecca (Anjli Mohindra) who move into a gorgeous new home in Glasgow with their two young children – only to discover that their neighbour isn’t quite as pleasant as they initially presume. Far from it, in fact.

The gripping trailer shows Martin and Anjli's characters Martyn and Rebecca being given a note from their neighbour, Jan, that reads, "I like watching you", as well as a creepy bouquet of flowers left at the front door. Most alarmingly, there's also a letter that suggests Jan can hear the couple "doing unspeakable things to their children”. It’s chilling stuff, to say the least.

What is Fear about?

The three-part psychological thriller follows Martyn (Martin Compston) and Rebecca (Anjli Mohindra) who, excited to make a fresh start away from London, move into a beautiful house in Glasgow with their two young children. Sounds idyllic, right? It is at first, only things quickly begin to unravel.

Enter their neighbour Jan (Solly McLeod), whose unnerving comments to Rebecca turn out to be the start of something far more intimidating. Facing the sort of accusations that are every parent’s worst nightmare, and with the police reluctant to step in Martyn and Rebecca feel they have nowhere to turn for help.

Is Fear based on a true story?

Fear is a fictional drama, adapted by screenwriter Mick Ford from a 2018 novel of the same name by Dirk Kurbjuweit, with Justin Chadwick (The Other Boleyn Girl, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) directing.
