If you were as absorbed by Netflix's Adolescence as we were, you'll be pleased to hear that the producers are bringing us a brand-new thought-provoking series. Enter Reunion, the BBC's powerful revenge thriller that's set to be another game-changing watch.

The four-part drama will tell the tale of newly released deaf convict Daniel Brennan (Matthew Gurney) who's determined to right his wrongs, while unravelling the truth behind the events that led him to prison. The series will also introduce us to Bad Sisters' Anne-Marie Duff, who plays Christine, a woman desperate to get to the bottom of what Daniel did, as well as her protective boyfriend Stephen (Eddie Marsan) and daughter Miri (Rose Ayling-Ellis).

Described by the BBC as a “milestone” in inclusive storytelling, with the majority of cast and many members of the crew being deaf or using British Sign Language, we’ve got a very good feeling about what’s to come. Ahead of the show's arrival, here's everything else you need to know about it, including the plot, cast and how you can watch it.

What is Reunion about?

The four-part drama is an emotional thriller following the journey of Daniel Brennan, a deaf man who’s determined to right his wrongs. Matthew Gurney leads the cast as recently released prisoner Daniel who finds himself caught between two worlds. On the one hand, he's unable to fully integrate into the hearing world, but he's also shunned by his closest friends and the wider deaf community following his heinous crime.

His only meaningful relationship is with his estranged daughter Carly (Lara Peake), who he’s had zero contact with since his arrest over a decade ago. Anne-Marie Duff stars as Christine, a woman desperate to find Brennan and get to the truth of what he did, alongside Eddie Marsan as Stephen Renworth, Christine’s protective boyfriend, while Rose Ayling-Ellis plays Miri, her daughter. Anne Marie has said she’s “genuinely thrilled” to be part of the production, while Matthew Gurney has described the scripts as "electrifying".

"It is rare to witness a narrative where the audience is taken on a journey with a very different set of senses," says Anne-Marie. "It’s about our need to acknowledge each other’s truths - both inside our own families and beyond. The team is so extraordinary. I feel very honoured to be rubbing shoulders with them."

It's set to be a thought-provoking series that will prod at how the justice system fails deaf people. Rose Ayling-Ellis told Digital Spy that working on the show was "refreshing, something that I felt like I could really relax and be in my element."

She continued: "A lot of the crew everywhere were deaf actors. There were just so many of us, to the point where the hearing crew and the hearing people were learning so much about awareness that they had to be almost on the same level. They even started signing to each other."
