You might think of The White Lotus as being a glossy, cinematic experience, showcasing beautiful people in stunning locations but - according to the cast - it isn't always quite so glamorous behind the scenes.

We sat down with Natasha Rothwell (who plays Belinda, returning from series one) and Michelle Monaghan (who joins for the first time in season three), and they revealed what it's really like to film the iconic show.

One of the greatest challenges they faced while filming on location in Thailand, they said, was the weather.

"Just the heat!" said Michelle. "It was rough with the heat and the mosquitoes."

Michelle also shared that the cast would have to wear the same clothes over again to shoot the scenes - which meant things could get "sweaty", added Natasha.

However, Michelle said that the team made sure that everyone in the cast "looked absolutely our best on camera" - even if they didn't always feel it behind the scenes.

And mosquitoes weren't the only creatures causing issues, as Natasha came face to face with a giant lizard whilst shooting.

"They [the crew] were like, can you get closer? I was like, my soul will leave my body! But the heat, I think, even eclipsed that," she said.

One of Natasha's favourite moments to film was a dinner scene - although she wouldn't spill what happens in the plot.

"You look at the call sheet and you see 19 of us are all there so it's like, this is gonna be a fun night," she said. "It's an opportunity to see other people work and I'm a nerd about the craft, so I just love those dinner scenes."

"They're iconic, those dinner scenes," added Michelle.

There were plenty more positive moments and bonding between the cast members, which also happened off-screen.

"It's hard to find genuine folks in Hollywood and I think that, when you go through something like shooting on location for so long, it does bond you together," said Natasha.

Michelle agreed. "What was so great is that we ended up spending over six months together so there were no airs anymore. We were each other's support system. If you wanted to wander out to the beach or to the pool to connect with someone, inevitably someone would be there," she added.

The White Lotus series 3 launches on Sky and streaming service NOW on Monday 17th February.
