It’s the news that will delight both Harlan Coben and Gavin & Stacey fans everywhere - the author and crime thriller genius is bringing us a brand-new Netflix series starring none other than Ruth Jones, aka Nessa, herself. Run Away is the latest twisty thriller in the works that will introduce us to a "perfect" family whose life is devastatingly shattered - and it's set to be our next TV obsession.

Based on Harlan’s novel of the same name, the eight-episode series follows Simon (James Nesbitt), whose life falls apart when his daughter Paige (Ellie de Lange) runs away. While Netflix is keeping tight-lipped about the finer details of Ruth’s role, we do know that she’ll play investigator Elena Ravenscroft - and she’s got quite the case on her hands.

While we patiently await the arrival of Run Away on our screens, here's everything you need to know about the new series, including the plot, full cast and how to watch it.

What will happen in Run Away?

Adapted from the bestselling book, Run Away stars James Nesbitt as Simon, who appears to have the perfect life: a loving wife and kids, a great job and beautiful home. That is, until his eldest daughter, Paige, runs away and everything falls apart.

When he tracks her down, Paige is vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park, but it seems this might be Simon's chance to bring his daughter home. She isn’t alone, however, and an argument quickly escalates into shocking violence.

According to the official synopsis, “Simon loses his daughter all over again, and his search to find her will take him into a dangerous underworld, revealing deep secrets that could tear his family apart forever.”

Harlan Coben told Netflix’s Tudum: “Run Away is about family - about what we will do to keep our family intact, what secrets we keep within our family, and what secrets we keep as a family.”

The new adaptation follows in the footsteps of the global successes Fool Me Once and Missing You, the latter of which was released on Netflix earlier this January and followed detective Kat Donovan who matched on a dating app with the fiancé who disappeared years before.
