We all love a proper cup of tea and a good biscuit, and it appears that's something Sarah Lancashire (or at least her latest character) takes very seriously.
In a new advert for Yorkshire Tea, which debuts tonight (Wednesday 8 Jan at 9pm), Sarah stars as a security guard investigating the case of the missing office biscuits at the Yorkshire Tea headquarters.
You can watch the full advert ahead of its TV debut above, and the witty sequence features Sarah in a role reminiscent of her famous Happy Valley character - police officer Catherine Cawood. After discovering the crime (missing biscuits, of course), she makes her way around the office interrogating each worker to uncover the truth.
No spoilers here on the outcome of the whodunnit, but let's just say that there's no way she'll rest until the culprit is discovered.
Speaking about the role in a release, Sarah said she was, "thrilled to join the Yorkshire Tea family and to spearhead the investigation of who stole Pat’s biscuits."
She added that she wouldn't reveal, "who the guilty party is, but they were a worthy adversary. You will just have to watch the advert to find out”.
Sarah Lancashire is the latest household name to appear in Yorkshire Tea's 'Where Everything’s Done Proper’ series of adverts, following the likes of Sir Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean.
Starring alongside Sarah in the latest ad were real employees of Yorkshire Tea from across the business.
The Yorkshire Tea ad launches on screens on 8 January during Grantchester at 9pm on ITV1.
