Speaking recently at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, Sarah Jessica Parker dropped some big hints about series 3 of And Just Like That, which got us all excited.

Talking about the sequel to Sex and the City, which follows our favourite trio Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristen Davis) as they navigate life and love in their fifties, she said: “There are so many interesting stories with additional characters that rightfully find a real home. There is growth with new faces. Carrie has a wonderful storyline.”

“The story takes some big swings and we fold some big ideas into those big swings. Some of the male characters are back, and there are some new men,” she teased. While the revelation that there is some new men on the horizon is thrilling, we got to thinking about the male Sex and the City characters we would not like to see making a reappearance.

The Sex and the City men we don't want to see And Just Like That S3

Drumroll please…

Jack Berger

Lest we forget, novelist Jack Berger (Ron Livingston) was the spineless specimen who broke Carrie’s heart by dumping her by Post-it note. That’s right, the man of many, many words decided a face-to-face conversation was too much to bear, so saw fit to end their relationship with the scrawled note: ‘I’m sorry. I can’t. Don’t hate me.’ Too late, Berger, we hated you long before you committed that cardinal sin. A walking talking red flag, berk Berger sulked when Carrie – a professional writer – dared critique his work and then when her book took off just as his own publisher dropped had him. Second hand embarrassment doesn’t even cover it.

Trey MacDougal

Alrighty then! On paper, Park Avenue cardiologist Trey MacDougal (Kyle MacLachlan) was the perfect match for princess Charlotte Yorke – until, that is, we realised he had the emotional sensitivity of a brick. Desperate to be a mother, Charlotte only learnt about Trey’s erectile dysfunction after they had married, and he point blank refused to discuss or work through it. Instead, as they struggled to conceive, he insensitively gifted her a cardboard cutout of a baby – who does that?! Also, when it came to their divorce, he couldn’t locate his backbone and talk to Charlotte in person, but instead relied on his overbearing mother Bunny (Frances Sternhagen) to do his dirty work for him. For shame!

Richard Wright

Alpha male hotel magnate Richard Wright (James Remar) was Samantha Jones’ Mr Big – a guy she couldn’t quit but was no good for her. Wealthy, confident, and with an equally high sex drive, Richard was catnip for media maven Samantha, but their relationship was toxic from the start – with chauvinist pig Richard making her cry during their first meeting. Open about his promiscuity, Samantha fell for him all the same, later regretting her emotional vulnerability when he cheated on her. His biggest crime, though, happened in series 6 when he came between Samantha and actual good guy, Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis), and almost derailed their relationship. For that, he can never be forgiven.

The new men we would love to see in And Just Like That S3

So, OK, after seven months of filming, they have officially wrapped on series 3, and the casting it out of our hands. BUT, if we had been consulted, here’s who we would love to see joining the gang.

Jeremy Allen White

Yes, Carmy from The Bear! With a proven track record of looking hot in chef’s whites and being able to take the heat of the kitchen, we could imagine him working in an upscale New York restaurant frequented by the gang, or catering an event. In fact, seeing him trying to meet Charlotte’s exacting standard could be a lot of fun.

Paul Mescal

Buff from his recent stint in Gladiator II, Paul Mescal and his muscles would make an excellent removal/delivery guy. Moving boxes for real estate broker Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury) or delivering hot baguettes to bakery owner Anthony Marentino (Mario Cantone), we could see him working up a sweat for any of the And Just Like That lot.

Ncuti Gatwa

Can you imagine if Doctor Who teleported to NYC? Whether Ncuti Gatwa was playing an old high fashion media mate of Carrie’s (can you imagine the rivalry with Anthony?!) or a version of himself, a British actor on the promo trail, he would be fifty shades of fab-u-lous.
