If you’re looking forward to watching Paddington In Peru when it arrives in cinemas this Friday (8 November 2024), make sure to keep an eye out for a very special appearance from Queen Elizabeth II.

A photo of the late Queen will appear in the third Paddington film, which came ‘with the consent and agreement of the royal household,’ Ron Halpern, head of global productions at France’s Studiocanal, told Variety.

Rosie Alison, a producer on the film, also told Variety: ‘[The Royal Family] were actually very happy for it to happen. But we don’t like to make a big deal of it, because Paddington’s obviously a very modest fellow.’

It follows on from the late Queen’s very memorable skit with everyone’s favourite bear for her Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022, in which Her Majesty sat down for afternoon tea with Paddington and pulled a marmalade sandwich out of her handbag, saying, ‘I keep mine in here – for later.’

The film, which sees Paddington and the Brown family venture to Peru in search of Aunt Lucy, also features several new cast members, including Emily Mortimer, who has replaced Sally Hawkins as Mary Brown, Olivia Colman, who joins as The Reverend Mother, and Antonio Banderas, who will play riverboat captain Hunter Cabot.

Paddington In Peru will be in cinemas from 8 November.
