SPOILERS FOR SERIES ONE BELOW
It's been over a year since series 1 of Netflix's Emmy-nominated The Diplomat arrived on our screens, which means we've all spent far too much time wondering the same question - did Hal survive the explosion?
Thankfully, series 2 of the political drama is on the horizon, and promises to answer all our burning questions - while raising a few more in the process, of course.
Starring Keri Russell as Kate Wyler, the new US ambassador to the UK, The Diplomat follows Kate in the throes of her new job, which involves defusing international crises and forging strategic alliances, all while navigating her deteriorating marriage to her husband and former diplomat, Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell).
Luckily, the trailer for the second season has already confirmed one crucial detail, and you can breathe a sigh of relief - yes, Hal is alive! Watch the trailer below to whet your appetite, then keep scrolling as we reveal everything else we know so far about series 2 of The Diplomat so far.
What happens in The Diplomat series 2?
Series 2 picks up right where season 1's almighty cliff-hanger ending left off. In the last minutes of the finale episode, Kate had just found out that it wasn't a hostile nation who ordered the attack on a British warship, as was suspected. In fact, it was the work of British Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge (Rory Kinnear).
But before she has time to process this new information, things take a dramatic turn with a second explosion, potentially killing Hal and three British government officials.
Now we know that Hal is very much alive, series 2 will see Kate chase the truth in an attempt to prove her newfound knowledge about Prime Minister Trowbridge.
While her almost-ex-husband seems to be her only ally, their marriage is still far from plain sailing, and Kate's dynamic with British Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi) becomes even more complicated.
Meanwhile, we - and Kate - will finally get to meet US Vice President Grace Penn. Excitingly, she'll be played by none other than Oscar winner Allison Janney, who's no stranger to political dramas after her Emmy-winning role as White House Press Secretary C.J. Cregg in The West Wing.
Expect sparks to fly, as the teaser below hints at an icy atmosphere between the two political players.
