As if the news that Cillian Murphy is returning as Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby in a new Peaky Blinders film wasn't exciting enough, now veteran actor Stephen Graham is getting in on the action.
The Boiling Point star, who played Hayden Stagg in the sixth and final season of the BBC series, has confirmed he's reprising his role in the Netflix film and says he's "looking forward to seeing the lads again."
Alongside Stephen, Netflix has announced a number of new additions to the cast, including Sophie Rundle (After the Flood, Gentleman Jack), Ned Dennehy (Culprits, The Peripheral), Packy Lee (Blue Lights) and Ian Peck (His Dark Materials, Robin Hood).
The film, which began production last month, is being helmed by Tom Harper, who directed several episodes of the show's first season, with a script by creator Stephen Knight.
Oscar-winner Cillian told Netflix: "It's very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans."
Here's everything we know about the film so far...
What's the plot of Peaky Blinders?
When we last saw Tommy Shelby in the season six finale, he was riding off on a white horse, determined to start a new life. So what's next for him?
While details are being kept tightly under wraps, Stephen Knight has teased that "it's a sort of untold story that happened in the Second World War, which Peakys are going to be involved in."
He also revealed that "it will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.” Watch this space!
Who's in the cast?
Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee and Ian Peck will join these previously announced cast members:
- Cillian Murphy (who reprises his role as Tommy Shelby)
- Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation)
- Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction)
- Barry Keoghan (Saltburn)
If the cast is anything to go by, we're expecting big things.
When can I watch it?
While a release date isn't yet known, we're expecting it to air on Netflix in 2025 at the earliest.
