As stars gathered in Beverly Hills last night (12 February) to celebrate the 96th Oscars Nominees Luncheon, the home turf of Hollywood royalty became awash with hues of lavender, indigo, mauve and plum as purple dominated the outfits of the guest list.

While recent fashion cycles have seen an emphasis on more pared back minimalist styles (in part thanks to TikTok's 'clean girl aesthetic' reigning supreme), this season is proving that bold colour choices certainly shouldn't be relegated to the back of the wardrobe.

A return to loud colours and patterns - from pops of red and flashes of leopard print - has been seen both on the catwalk and high street.

Perfectly demonstrating how to go bold in your outfit choices last night was Emily Blunt, who opted for head-to-toe purple.

The actress looked as glamorous as ever, as she paired her silk blouse with matching purple trousers.

Emily wasn't alone in her all-out purple deep dive. Ryan Gosling also wore an all-lilac suit on the red carpet. The pair will be appearing alongside each other in upcoming film, The Fall Guy. The action comedy follows a stuntman (played by Ryan) who takes on the role of amateur detective when the star he usually doubles for is reported missing.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham, Teresa Palmer and Stephanie Hsu will also be starring alongside Emily and Ryan.

Meanwhile, Ryan's Barbie co-star America Ferrera dressed in head to toe lavender, in the form of a fitted maxi dress with gathered detailing.
