One Day spoilers follow.
One Day star Ambika Mod has shared that her favourite moment from filming was eventually cut from the show.
The Netflix show charts the relationship between Emma Morley (Mod) and Dexter Mayhew (Leo Woodall) over 20 years, depicting the beginnings of their friendship and their constant attraction to each other.
David Nicholls’ 2009 novel was previously adapted into a feature film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, and Mod revealed that her favourite line from the source material was left on the cutting room floor in the latest adaptation.
"Dexter is telling Emma about this fancy party he went to and how he met Naomi," Mod told TV Line. "And he’s like, ‘Oh, yeah, and then she just came up to me, kissed me and slipped something in my mouth.’ And then Emma says, ‘Was it a peanut?’
"It’s my favourite moment. We did film it, but unfortunately it was cut for time, which is fine. I talk about it a lot," she added.
The latest version has received critical acclaim thus far and debuted with a 95% Rotten Tomatoes rating, though both Mod and Woodall explained that honouring the original source material was important – especially when it came to the devastating ending.
"It is quite shocking," Mod told Radio Times. "Also especially in that period, and that chapter of the book and that episode, you're sort of lulled into a false sense of security, so it does come as a bit of a shock. I know it does make a lot of people angry."
"It ends so wholesomely that I don't think people will feel too robbed," added Woodall, with the pair noting that the final episode had a "really beautiful progression".
