The BBC has released a trailer for Death in Paradise series 13, narrowing down the launch window for its premiere.

The trailer, which aired on TV and isn't currently available online, doesn't hint at much about the new series, mostly just giving viewers an overview of what it's about: lots of sun and sand, and the occasional murder mystery that needs to be solved.

It also tells us that the series is 'coming soon'.

What to read next

Considering that the show historically kicks off a new series in early-to-mid January, fans were perhaps hoping for a concrete premiere date.

When a TV has 'coming soon' in a trailer, it often means it's coming out within the next month or so.

Last year, Ralf Little teased what we can expect from season 13, saying that we'll be getting "more of the same, the stuff that we know and love".

He continued: "We're going to try and pick up it with the tone [from] at the end of last year.

"We really tried to push the boat out with series 12. Not just a mystery every week, solving the mystery and moving on, but in the course of a series really trying to find challenges for the main characters... There's going to be more challenges [ahead] for the characters."

Meanwhile, a second spin-off series was recently announced, titled Return to Paradise and taking place in Australia.

Death in Paradise can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
