Strictly Come Dancing star Carlos Gu has reunited with co-star Amy Dowden, sharing photos of their Christmas holiday.

The pair are good friends away from the show, with Carlos revealing on Instagram that he had been invited to spend the festive season with Amy’s family in Wales.

“Merry Xmas World!!” he wrote in the caption, accompanying a reel of the star enjoying his trip. “Absolutely enjoying my first Welsh Christmas. Thank you for having me Dowdens 💜”

Amy was absent from the latest series of Strictly following her battle with breast cancer, though she did make several returns to the studio and dancefloor. Carlos partnered with Angela Scanlon in the series, eventually finishing in 6th place.

The series was eventually won by Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola, with the former Coronation Street star releasing a statement following her triumph: “Where to even begin. I don’t think this feeling will ever feel real.

“For 3 months I feel like I’ve been living in a dream, I’m still waiting for someone to pinch me and wake me up!!!!!! Signing up for Strictly, I knew it was going to be hard. I knew I was going to have fun – I didn’t know just how much fun I would have.

“Strictly has changed my life. I’m now a yes person. This experience has taught me that giving your best is all you can ask of yourself… I have learnt to cherish every single second of life because you will really see the joy it can bring.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
