The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman has teased bigger challenges in the upcoming season 2 of the show.
The UK version of the Dutch format will return to the BBC on January 3, seeing once again 22 strangers retreating to the Scottish Highlands. Nestled up in a castle and tasked to complete various missions, they'll need to try and discover the 'Traitors' amongst them for the chance to win up to £120,000.
In a recent interview, Winkleman, who will return to present the new season, has revealed the armoury from season 1 has gone, and a kitchen will be in its place. She also praised the producers' inventiveness, saying the "scale" of the new missions is "beyond".
"The missions this year are epic," she told RadioTimes.com.
"The producers are so clever as the missions are incredibly important, as it is a chance for the contestants to switch off from strategising and plotting.
"They get fresh air, they run around, they work as a team. The scale this year is beyond."
The show became a hit when it premiered in November 2022, with viewers getting sucked in as the contestants tried and identify the 'Faithfuls' from the 'Traitors'.
Last year, 'Faithfuls' Aaron, Hannah and Meryl managed to win the prize fund after correctly identifying Wilfred and Kieran as the 'Traitors'.
Meanwhile, the programme has been renewed for a third instalment ahead of its season 2 premiere.
In a statement, Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC, said: "The massive unscripted hit The Traitors will be back for a third series. Expect to see more psychological gameplay, exciting challenges and of course Claudia at the helm.
"It will be a thrilling ride for both avid fans and newcomers to the series for sure. The BBC will always remain faithful to The Traitors."
The Traitors season 1 and the US version are available to stream on BBC iPlayer now. Season 2 of the UK version will air on January 3, 2024, with episodes airing on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights.
