Strictly Come Dancing star Sara Davies has landed a new TV role fronting a BBC One series called Making It with Sara Davies.

The businesswoman, who originally rose to fame as one of the Dragons on Dragons' Den, will be helping aspiring inventors to make their dreams become a reality as part of the new show, set to air next year.

According to the synopsis, each episode "will feature ordinary people who think they've come up with a brilliant or innovative idea for a new product, but just don't know where to start to see if it could ever become a reality".

Sara and a team of "highly-skilled experts" will then meet the inventors to help work on their ideas, and potentially turn them into money-making products.

"With her keen eye for innovation, and amazing concepts, Sara will be joined by her team in their specialist workshop, based in the North East of England, to see if these dreams can become a reality," the synopsis adds.

Sara said: “There are thousands of people across the UK who have brilliant and big ideas, but are stuck on how to get started, so I am delighted that I am going to be able to help these wonderfully innovative people develop and make their inventing dreams a reality. I can't wait to see what ideas are out there and get them into our workshop of dreams!”

"Where better to make a programme about inventing than the North East?!" added BBC Daytime commissioning editor Helen Munson. "This is where Joseph Swann invented the lightbulb, and George Stephenson became the 'Father of the Railways'. We are in good company! And with the brilliant Sara Davies at the helm we know we are going to unearth brand new inventions for the 21st Century.”

Sara competed on the 2021 series of Strictly, and has been busy ever since, recently fronting the BBC's Ultimate Wedding Planner alongside First Dates' Fred Sirieix.

Making It with Sara Davies will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2024.
