Strictly Come Dancing star Dianne Buswell has shared an emotional update on her dad's health, revealing he has undergone his first round of chemotherapy in Australia.

The professional dancer marked the beginning of his cancer treatment in a heartfelt Instagram post alongside a photo of dad Mark waving from his hospital bed.

Dianne shared her pride for dad Mark, cheering him on in a touching message.

"i’m so proud of you dad," her post caption began. "first round of chemotherapy today !"

"i wish i could be there to hold your hand and support you in person ❤️ but i do know that i’m making you so proud over here in my concert every week !," she continued. "the Australian nurses and drs are now very aware of strictly come dancing as my dad won’t stop talking about it.

She concluded: "you can do this daddy xxx go mark @mark.3802 @rinabuswell."

Dianne's Strictly co-stars were amongst those commenting with further messages of support for the dancer's dad.

Strictly host Claudia Winkleman and professional dancer Jowita Przystal both shared red love heart emojis on the post, whilst fellow dancer Katya Jones wrote: "You can do this Mark!"

Strictly's Amy Dowden, who recently finished chemotherapy as part of her own breast cancer treatment, also penned a response to Dianne's post.

"Sending all my love to whole Buswell family!," she wrote. "Mark you got this and soon it’s going to be a distant memory! Roll on 2024 where you will be watching Dianne live in concerts. Thinking of you."

Dianne's long-term boyfriend and former Strictly contestant Joe Sugg also commented three love heart emojis on his partner's Instagram post.
