The early noughties are having somewhat of a renaissance across culture - from younger generations such as Gen Z (people born between the mid-1990s and mid-2010s) wearing fashion influenced by the era, to film-makers reviving blockbuster films.

Among the films getting a 2023 refresh is comedy Mean Girls, while Greta Gerwig's Barbie reincarnation became this summer's biggest blockbuster.

Another film that could soon be added to the list is Freaky Friday, which celebrates its 20th anniversary next month.

Speculation of a sequel rose after Jamie Lee Curtis shared a cryptic post to Instagram.

Uploading a sweet picture alongside her former co-star Lindsay Lohan (who played her daughter in Freaky Friday), Jamie captioned the post: "Too late. YOU GREW UP and SO BEAUTIFULLY! Well, it's Friday, and the strike is over so hopefully, we can switch places again in the near future!"

And if that wasn't enough of a hint that a sequel could be in the making, Jamie dropped another clue, by tagging Lindsay Lohan and Disney.

Fans of the 2003 blockbuster film were quick to reminisce about their favourite scenes and memories, prompting Jamie to post another picture to Instagram, this time alongside a throwback photo.

The American actress and producer wrote in her caption: "I love when the internet makes me look back in wonder and delight!" and once again tagged the Instagram accounts of Lindsay Lohan and Disney.

We will be first in line at the cinema if Freaky Friday returned to our screens.
