Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has shared "the truth" behind her breast cancer journey as she continues her treatment.
To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Amy posted a candid video update on Instagram, providing her followers with a detailed understanding of what a day receiving chemotherapy looks like.
"I want to show the truth with my journey and hopefully help raise awareness and help others," Amy explained, adding that she had now completed seven sessions of chemo.
"There's no text book to how you deal with cancer and it’s important to support those going through it their way."
"A day in chemo with me. Now don't watch if you're squeamish or don't like needles or injections," she began.
The dancer then talked fans through her treatment in a voice over, while the video showed her receiving various medications through a port (an implanted device which remains in her arm for the duration of treatment) before beginning the chemo session.
She then explained that she also receives regular injections into her stomach, which will stop her body from "feeding" the cancer, and will have to continue injecting herself for five years.
"Now remember everyone's cancer journey is different so please don't judge, they do what's right for you and what you need for your journey," Amy continued, thanking the "incredible" team administering her treatment.
Several of Amy's Strictly co-stars were quick to send their support, praising the star for sharing the realities of her treatment. "You are doing such a great job raising awareness Amy! Which is incredibly important and inspiring. So much love for you," wrote Katya Jones.
"Love you Amy xxx. Speaking out and showing people what you're going through I just know will help so many people," Dianne Buswell added.
