Strictly Come Dancing star Angela Rippon and her professional dance partner Kai Widdrington have revealed a secret weapon behind their upcoming Charleston routine.
In a new video shared to Instagram today (October 25), the broadcaster confirmed that a critically acclaimed choreographer had joined the couple in the training room to help put together their routine.
The two will perform the popular 1920s style of dance to the theme from Murder She Wrote in this Saturday's Halloween special.
"Well, it's Tuesday morning and we're here in the rehearsal room, Kai and I, but we have got a legend from the world of choreography," Angela began in the video clip. "The wonderful, Olivier-winning Bill Deamer."
"THE Bill Deamer," Kai reiterated, whose theatre credits include Cats, Hello Dolly and Top Hat.
"We're so honoured you are doing [choreographing] our Charleston for us," Angela added, to which Bill replied: "It's an honour to be here with you two."
Bill went on to reveal his connection to the Strictly couple. "Well, we've been friends for a while," he said looking at Angela. "It's got nothing to do with me," Kai said.
"I'm really excited about this one," Bill continued, adding of the routine: "It's crazy I can tell you that."
Angela asked her friend to "keep the rest a secret" till Saturday night. "We are having a ball," she said, signing off the video.
Angela and Kai were the first couple to perform an Argentine Tango in the 2023 series during last weekend's show.
Their routine, complemented by the classical song 'Tanguera' by Sexteto Mayor, was a hit with judges, who awarded the pair 34 points out of 40 (their highest score to date).
Will Angela and Kai's Charleston prove as successful?
