After a warm September, followed by temperamental weather so far this October, dressing between the seasons can prove somewhat challenging.

Do you layer up and risk feeling hot and sticky by 4pm? Or do you brave going without, only to become cold and soaking wet from a sudden downpour?

Trinny Woodall has come to the rescue, taking to Instagram to share her seasonal styling tips, which are perfect for those in-between days, when the weather can't quite make its mind up.

In the video, Trinny shows four ways to style a jumper, which she says "might be the simplest thing."

"I used to just tie my jumpers around my hip," she tells the camera. "And probably at one stage in my life, I didn't want you to know where my legs ended and my bottom started."

But Trinny point outs that if you tie the jumper slighter higher up the waist, you can give the illusion of longer legs.

"Then there's your classic 'around the shoulder'," Trinny demonstrates, while tying the sleeves of her jumper together at the back and also showing the "classic way" of tying the sleeves at the front.

However, the Trinny London founder goes on to show that if you tie the sleeves higher up, around your neck, you can bring a pop of colour from the jumper closer to your face and imitate the look of a polo neck or a scarf.

Trinny's final jumper-solution was to diagonally tie the jumper around her front. "There's something I like about this look," she said. "It goes great with a crossbody [bag]."

The stylist and beauty guru captioned her video: "How do you tie your jumper on those between-season days? When you want a provisional layer in case the temperature drops, do you favour an over-the-shoulder moment or a classic waist tie?"

She added: "Whatever you prefer, consider playing with placement when layering your favourite knitwear – it can be such a simple way to feel cool while keeping warm…"

Trinny, who will be speaking at Good Housekeeping Live, also pointed out that you can find more of her tips and tricks in her upcoming book, Fearless.
