Replying to a tweet from Hammond in which she shared a promo for the show, Lucas sent his "huge congrats" to the This Morning star.

"You smashed it. So warm & natural & funny. Hope you are enjoying all the love," he wrote.

Hammond was first announced as Lucas's replacement in March 2023, and she previously revealed co-host Noel Fielding was the reason she initially wanted the job.

After a chemistry test with Fielding, she told Daily Mail: "When I met Noel, I realised I wanted the job because I really liked him. He was charming, funny, into art. I am as well. I paint. We had lots in common."

The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
