Strictly Come Dancing professional Dianne Buswell has shared some throwback photos of herself and Amy Dowden, as a show of support for the latter during her chemotherapy treatment.

Dowden had a single mastectomy back in May, to treat the stage three breast cancer she had been recently diagnosed with. But last month, the dancer was told she needed chemotherapy as further tumours had been discovered, and she began her first cycle of treatment yesterday.

Buswell shared a series of pictures of the pair to her Instagram, including photos of them getting wedding ready, dressing up as classic film characters for Strictly, hanging out at the studio, and enjoying some cocktails.

"Sending our Welsh dragon every single bit of love, energy, determination, healing vibes and more," Buswell wrote.

"I know today is a big day for you but knowing you you will be (rrrrrrrreeaady) in your Welsh accent to see the light at the end of all of this, ring that bell and be back dancing with your Strictly fam."

She added: "We are all your biggest cheerleaders and we all care and love you so very much."

Dowden shared an update after her first round of chemotherapy, posting a photo of herself in a hospital bed wearing a cold cap.

She said that although she didn't get much sleep and burst into tears before her first round of treatment, Dowden said that her sister helped distract her and the treatment itself wasn't as bad as she thought.

"One step closer to being back on the dance floor (that's what's hurting the most right now, I'd do anything to be there with my fellow Strictly pros right now)," she wrote.
