ITV star Ruth Langsford enjoyed a day out with her BFF Sam Balshaw (aka @hungrywomancooks) in London last week.

The Loose Women presenter and her pal Sam headed to see the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London, before enjoying lunch overlooking the River Thames.

Ruth gave fans an insight into her day out in the capital, sharing an Instagram Reel of video clips and photos of what the pair got up to.

Alongside the video, Ruth wrote: "Had a wonderful day out with my BFF @hungrywomancooks yesterday….went to see the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London. The most beautiful, hot sunny day to take it all in and afterwards we walked across the majestic Tower Bridge to have a late lunch overlooking the river Thames….gorgeous!"

The Tower of London is home to the iconic Crown Jewels, which have been stored and displayed there since 1661. The world-famous collection of 23,578 gemstones is part of the Royal Collection and remains under armed guard. However, the special jewels are still used today, in ceremonies such as the State Opening of Parliament. You will even have spotted some of them during King Charles III's Coronation in May 2023, such as the Imperial State Crown.

You can see the jewels up close for yourself at the Tower of London, which is open to the public. However, it's worth noting strictly no photography is allowed - which is why you won't spot any of the jewels in Ruth's Instagram video!
