Radio presenter and podcaster Fearne Cotton has announced she is releasing her first fiction book next year.

The Happy Place founder took to Instagram to share the exciting news with her followers, revealing the title and plot of her new novel.

While Fearne has written many non-fiction books over the years exploring mental health and wellbeing, this is the star’s first foray into fiction. The star has said that she hopes the novel will inspire readers to take on a journey of self-discovery, say what they want to say and create boundaries in their lives.

What to read next

Alongside a video, explaining the plot of the novel, Fearne wrote on Instagram: “A year and a half ago an idea popped into my head whilst I was out running. An almost fully formed story that I felt a powerful urge to tell. The story wouldn’t leave my head, so a few weeks later in conversation I mentioned it to my friend Clare. I asked her what I should do with it? Would I dare to start writing a fiction?

“Clare told me to begin straight away as she pointed out I had been grinning from ear to ear whilst telling her the plot. The next day I opened my laptop, and without telling a soul wrote a novel called Scripted. I very much have Clare to thank for the huge prompt.

“Although I have written many non-fiction books, this is my first novel, and I’m tremendously excited to get it out there. It’s been a joy to write and at times pure escapism. I can only hope you feel the same about it when it’s released. Every time I opened my laptop to dive into Jade's world my eyes and heart lit up. I’ve poured my heart, pain, love of humour and desire to grow, into every single page. It’s been the steepest learning curve on every level.

“It’s a story of finding confidence to say what is needed, a tale of self-discovery, and letting go of the people in life that are a drain. We wanted to get the word out early so I can tell you a little more about it over the coming months.”
