Taking to Instagram yesterday (10 July), Viola Davis shared a string of sweet pictures to celebrate her daughter’s 13th birthday.
The post shared to over 11 million followers showed recent images of her daughter, Genesis, as well as cute throwback snaps of when she was a toddler.
Viola captioned the post, “Well....my baby is 13 years old. Thirteen. You are my heart G!! Leap into your teens and remember YOU are the love of your life!! Protect your flame and no matter how old you are, you'll always be mama and dada's baby!!! Love love love YOU!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️”
Fans and friends flocked to the comments to send their wishes, with actress, Octavia Spencer, writing, “Happy Birthday baby”, and fellow actress, Donna Murphy, saying, “Oh Viola! I remember the day on the #SVU set, when we saw each other & you told me your girl was on her way to you! Happy Birthday beautiful, vibrant Genesis! 💖💞🎂🎉🙌🔥👑😭”
The post was quickly followed with another picture of the pair hugging at Disneyland, which Viola called one of her favourite photos of the two.
Genesis was welcomed by the How To Get Away With Murder star and her husband Julius Tennon through adoption in 2011, and has since graced many red carpets with her parents. In 2015, Viola told InStyle Magazine, “I always tell Genesis she was born from my heart, not my belly."
This year has also seen Viola and Julius celebrating her 20th wedding anniversary.
Taking to Instagram just three weeks ago, she called her marriage “20 years of connection”, before adding, “We've seen the loss of family members and held each other up. We've had accolades, triumphs, joy, grief, exhaustion and still I feel your grip”
