Doctor Who reveals new look at David Tennant's costume in Comic Relief sketch

Doctor Who has revealed another look at David Tennant's new costume.

Ahead of its Comic Relief special, which is due to air on 17 March, the BBC released a series of images from the upcoming Doctor Who sketch starring Tennant alongside Lenny Henry.

Fans were already treated to a quick look at Tennant's latest outfit in last year's special The Power of the Doctor as well as in a first-look image of Tennant as The Fourteenth Doctor.

While the new images serve to promote the comedy sketch, it's a closer look at Tennant's outfit that he'll wear as he continues to portray The Fourteenth Doctor in this year's 60th anniversary specials before Ncuti Gatwa takes on the role.

We already knew that Tennant would be sporting a slightly different costume than he wore during his time as the Tenth Doctor, and the new snaps have confirmed just how different it is, with him swapping a pinstripe suit for a brown and blue checked number in keeping with his old colour palette.

Famous for rocking a pair of converse during his time on the sci-fi series, Tennant can be seen wearing a light coloured pair in the stills from the sketch.

When Tennant's new suit was revealed fans were left puzzled as to why he hadn't regenerated wearing departing Doctor Jodie Whittaker's clothes as is tradition.

Speaking of the decision, showrunner Russell T Davies said: "I was very certain that I didn't want David to appear in Jodie's costume, I think the notion of men dressing in 'women's clothes', the notion of drag, is very delicate."

"I'm a huge fan of that culture and the dignity of that, it's truly a valuable thing. But it has to be done with immense thought and respect."
