Strictly stars Anton du Beke and Giovanni Pernice team up for new BBC travel show

Strictly Come Dancing stars Anton du Beke and Giovanni Pernice are teaming up for a new BBC travel show.

The two spent years together as colleagues in the pro ranks before Anton joined the judges' table on Strictly, so they'll have plenty of banter on the first series of Anton and Giovanni: Adventures in Sicily.

The three-part factual series will see Gio bringing his mate home to the Italian island for a beautiful holiday of a lifetime filled with childhood memories and delights only a local can show a tourist.

Naturally, the pair will show off their best tangos when they're not touring historic sights like Mount Etna or sampling Sicilian cuisine.

"To say this has been a dream project is an understatement," Giovanni said today. "Taking Anton to my much-loved home of Sicily was simply Bellissima! We danced, we laughed, and had the time of our lives – with great culture, food and company. I cannot wait for viewers in the UK to come on this journey with us. See you in the Sicilian sun! Ciao."

Anton added: "When I first heard about this trip it was pretty irresistible. What's not to love? It's all my favourite things, great food, great country and spending time in the sunshine with Giovanni. Marvellous!"

Giovanni spent his formative years in Sicily before moving to Bologna at age 14 when he decided to take his dancing more seriously. The rest is history!

Anton and Giovanni: Adventures in Sicily is coming to BBC One and the BBC iPlayer in 2023.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off show Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows also stream on BBC iPlayer.
