Shirley Ballas spoke about whether she’ll be getting engaged to her partner and what their first wedding dance could be.

During a talk at Good Housekeeping Live, in partnership with Dyson, Shirley said that she and her partner Daniel Taylor spent lockdown together, “which is like 150 years in two years,” of getting to know each other.

“I do believe there is a little ring…” she told the live audience, confirming rumours that Danny had bought her an engagement ring, although had not yet popped the question.

It seems that the pair are in no rush and Shirley said that although she’s usually a forward planner, she’s leaving this one up to him. “Let’s see when he’s ready,” she said.

A member of the audience then asked about what their first dance might be, if they were to get married.

“With Danny, I think he would like to whizz me round in the quickstep, I’ve got a funny feeling” she predicted. “It would be his choice but I’d have a little bit of help probably from Jason Gilkison from Strictly to choreograph something with maybe a few lifts to make it all exciting.”

Shirley described Danny as being “very jovial” and also “very Liverpool”, referencing both of their Merseyside upbringings.

The star also discussed her new autobiography, Behind the Sequins: My Life, which delves into her childhood growing up on an estate, how she achieved a world class dancing career and her personal life in love and family.
