Bridgerton spin-off shares promising filming update

Bridgerton's Queen Charlotte spin-off has been given a huge update from director Tom Verica and it's good news for fans.

Verica shared what appears to be a screenshot of the script alongside the caption: "That's a wrap. This production, this cast, this crew…just wait."

While the director gave no further details about when to expect the new series, Verica's confirmation that production on the show has wrapped means it shouldn't be too long before we get Queen Charlotte on our screens.

The show will follow the life of a young Queen Charlotte (played by Golda Rosheuvel in the main series) and will also feature a young Lady Danbury and Lady Violet Bridgerton.

Sex Education star India Amarteifio will play the younger version of the Queen.

An official synopsis of the show reads: "Betrothed to the mysterious King of England against her will, Charlotte arrives in London only to realise she was not exactly what the royals were expecting. As she learns to navigate the palace, the 'ton, and her unpredictable husband, she grows into one of Europe's most unforgettable monarchs."

Adjoa Andoh, who plays Lady Danbury in the main show, recently gave fans a taste of what to expect in the upcoming series, revealing that we will see how the Queen, Lady Danbury and Lady Bridgerton came to be.

"You need to strategise," Andoh said (via TVLine). "These courts are not cuddly, friendly places. They're rabid, and you have to survive.

"Lady Danbury has gotten to a position of comfort and safety and status because she learned to play the game, and you will see how."

The prequel show won't be the only Queen Charlotte content Bridgerton fans will be getting, either. Earlier this year, author Julia Quinn revealed via her Instagram account that she was working on a Queen Charlotte book, collaborating with Bridgerton producer Shonda Rhimes.

Bridgerton seasons 1-2 are streaming now on Netflix. Season 3 is in production.
