In addition to premiering new films, festivals are often a chance for attendees to flaunt their latest look.
Tilda Swinton, who is currently at the 79th Venice Film Festival, has certainly grasped this opportunity with both hands.
The actor, who won an Academy Award in 2008 for her performance in Michael Clayton, rocked up to the red carpet for the Italian festival with neon yellow hair while wearing an oversized blue and white striped shirt with red tracksuit bottoms (via Daily Mail).
The star, who is known for her work in both blockbusters and independent films, is at the festival to promote The Eternal Daughter, which is directed by Joanna Hogg (The Souvenir). The film, which is being co-produced by A24 and BBC Films, sees a mother and daughter return to their mysterious family home.
Swinton, who can currently be seen in George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing, has had great success at the festival in the past, winning the Best Actress Award in 1991 for her role in Edward II. In 2020, she was awarded the Career Golden Lion Award, which recognises past achievements in the film industry.
The Venice Film Festival, which this year runs from 31 August to 10 September, is one of the four major festivals on the calendar, alongside Cannes, Berlin and Toronto.
The Golden Lion, the festival’s Best Film award, will be decided by a jury headed by Julianne Moore, with nominees including The Banshees of Inisherin, Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde and The Whale.
