The Duchess of Cambridge joined the Great Britain SailGP Team for a race against New Zealand in Plymouth over the weekend (Sunday 31 July).
The Duchess joined Olympic sailor Sir Ben Ainslie along with the rest of the British sailing team onboard a catamaran and won a friendly race against New Zealand.
Kate got stuck in with the rest of the crew while racing and even had a go at steering, as she is a keen sailor herself. You can watch her in action during the second half of the video above.
Before donning a wetsuit, cap and buoyancy aid for the race, Kate met with the team in a fitting nautical ensemble, consisting of a striped Breton top and white shorts.
Kate’s navy and white long-sleeved top is a classic wardrobe staple, while her chic high waisted shorts added a subtle hint of glamour thanks to the statement gold buttons.
There were no heels in sight for Kate on the day, as she opted for a pair of her go-to Superga pumps for the occasion.
Photographs of the day were shared to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official Instagram account.
The post explained that the Duchess also met with the 1851 Trust’s Protect our Future programme which, “equips young people with skills and knowledge to understand climate science and take positive action, protecting nature, people, our oceans and the planet,” according to the post.
It added that Kate’s win with Sir Ben and the GB team proved that the sailing is, “fast, frenetic and fiercely competitive!” and stated it was “the world’s first climate positive sport.”
