Hannah Dodd is pretty excited to join the cast of Netflix's smash TV show Bridgerton.
The actress is joining the season three cast as Francesca, replacing Ruby Stokes in the role. After playing Francesca, Lady Violet's sixth-oldest child, in seasons one and two of Bridgerton, Stokes left the show in order to star in fellow Netflix production Lockwood & Co.
Now, Stokes' replacement, Dodd, is stoked to be the new Francesca. She talked about joining the show in a new interview with TV Line.
“I’m so excited. Everybody’s been so lovely. I just want to do a good job," Dodd said.
Dodd says she has read six of the eight Bridgerton books written by Julia Quinn, which the TV show is based on. Dodd focused on Francesca's story as she "didn't know what [she'd] got [herself] in for."
"I needed to read that as soon as possible. It’s such a beautiful book and she’s such a beautiful character. I can’t really believe that I get to play her," Dodd says.
“I know how people feel about her as well, so I’m going to do my best."
Dodd previously starred in Anatomy of a Scandal, while she is currently featuring in Flowers in the Attic: The Origin on Lifetime. Inbetween those shows, Dodd squeezed in an appearance in Marvel's Eternals in the small role of Sandra. Meanwhile, she has also joined the cast of Netflix's upcoming Enola Holmes 2, which stars Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown in the titular role.
Season two of Bridgerton aired earlier this year following a world premiere in London, while principal photography of the third season began in July. There is no set release date for the third season yet, but a fourth season has already been commissioned.
Bridgerton seasons 1-2 are streaming now on Netflix. Season 3 has been confirmed.
