Princess Anne was in Northamptonshire today (21 July) to officially open a restored historical site.
The Princess Royal visited the Chester House Estate which, according to a post on the official Royal Family Instagram account, is one of, “the few places in the UK which can demonstrate over 10,000 years of human activity.”
Included in the post was a photograph of Princess Anne laughing alongside actors dressed as classical Roman Centurions. They were complete with metal body armour and helmets, a traditional wood and metal weapon, plus a red and gold painted shield.
The Chester House Estate recently underwent an extensive restoration project to the tune of £15 million.
“The site has been developed into a sustainable visitor destination with access for the public to learn about the history and heritage, as well as becoming the location to house countywide archaeological finds,” the post read.
Princess Anne was present to mark the official opening of the regenerated site which holds great historical significance.
The Princess Royal appeared to be enjoying her visit and looked smart in a black and white V-neck dress, with a white woven jacket and beaded necklace.
Last week, Princess Anne carried out a special engagement with the Queen. The pair conducted a mother-daughter visit to a hospice where they met with staff and patients.
Her Majesty unveiled a plaque to officially open a new building which had been built at the Thames Hospice in Berkshire.
