Strictly pro Amy Dowden finally marries Ben Jones after COVID

Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Amy Dowden has finally tied the knot with Ben Jones after having to push her big day back twice due to COVID.

Amy, who was born in Caerphilly, opened up about her wedding to Hello!, telling them: "It was a stunning venue. I always knew I wanted to get married in Wales. The day was a celebration of Ben and me."

Following a combined hen and stag party, the two married with plenty of Strictly stars in attendance, including Dianne Buswell, who served as a bridesmaid.

Ben proposed to Amy on New Year's Eve 2017, and the date was originally set for April 2020.

"I didn't have a clue what the plan was – it was going to be a big surprise," she explained.

"My bridesmaids worked so hard on it, but it's just one of those things. There's far worse things happening out there in the world, people are losing family members and friends, and their jobs, so I can't complain that I didn't get my hen."

A few months ago, Amy was announced as the host of a brand-new series called Dare to Dance for BBC Wales, which will see her choreograph big routines for individuals and groups to surprise their friends and families.

"So excited the news is out! I'm going to be hosting my own series, Dare to Dance. 6x30min episodes due to air early 2023!" she said at the time.

"Big thanks to the @bbc @wildflameproductions @bbccymruwales for the wonderful opportunity. It's going to be such a joyous and uplifting show and I can't wait to take people on their own journey of dance!"
