The Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Anne attended a joint visit to women’s healthcare organisations in London.

It was announced last week that the pair would visit the headquarters of the Royal College of Midwives and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists on Wednesday 27 April, to learn more about their important work and unveil a plaque to officially open the new headquarters of the organisations.

In a post on the official social media account for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Kate wrote, "Introducing a new global hub for maternity care and women’s health. This new building illustrates the importance of sector collaboration in finding solutions to improve maternal healthcare."

During their visit, the pair were expected to be part of a roundtable discussion about measures to improve inequalities in maternity care, which would bring together experts, mothers and medical staff.

The Duchess said that they discussed, "working together to tackle inequalities in maternity care and ensure women can get the best care possible across all backgrounds."

The pair were also expected to hear about new tools and initiatives now being used to improve care in higher risk pregnancies, and to also prevent consequences such as brain injury.

In the post, Kate added that, "it is vital that women and families feel listened to and supported at such a significant time in their lives."

To attend the important visit, Kate wore a stunning cream coat dress designed to look like a belted blazer and skirt, by Self Portrait (£400).

She paired the dress with pearl jewellery, including the gorgeous Nura Pearl necklace (£125) from Monica Vinander, a brand she wears regularly.

The visit is the first official event Princess Anne and the Duchess of Cambridge have undertaken together, although they have attended other occasions with as part of the wider royal family.

Easter bank holiday weekend, for instance, saw many members of the royal family come together for a traditional service. On Easter Sunday (17 April), the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle alongside their two eldest children.

Princess Charlotte wore an adorable dress in a co-ordinating pale blue to her mother. Prince George also twinned with his father, as he and Prince William wore matching navy suits, with light blue shirts and polished black shoes for the occasion.
